Driven by a love of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and the author’s legendary passion for aviation, the Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen joined with the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation to present a very special 2006 exhibition. Before The Little Prince earned him posthumous glory as a literary giant, Saint-Exupéry was an accomplished military pilot who flew numerous missions during World War II. He ultimately disappeared while on a reconnaissance mission in and around the Rhone Valley of southern France. When the wreckage of Saint-Exupéry’s plane was finally discovered off the coast of Marseille in the mid-2000s, IWC Schaffhausen thought that the world deserved to see these significant remains.
The Saint-Exupéry/IWC exhibition cemented a partnership that continues to last unto this day. And the IWC Pilot’s Watch is a testament to this mutual trust.
The latest Pilot’s Watch model remains true to Saint-Exupéry’s globetrotting spirit by allowing wearers to span time zones with ease. Perfect for frequent world travelers, the IWC Pilot’s Watch Timezoner Chronograph allows you to reset the timepiece to local time wherever you happen to be in just a few seconds.
In order to set the watch to the desired time zone, just push down the bezel, align it with the proper city/zone display, and let it go. The hour hand, 24-hour day/night display, and the date will automatically update.
