Almost an exact reproduction of the 1994 Pilot’s Chronograph, with minor cosmetic differences and a size increase (from 39mm to 43mm), the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph makes a comeback after more than 20 years. The bigger size, at 43mm, is perhaps the sweet spot between historical accuracy and wearability when it comes to pilot’s watches. A noticeable step above the modern IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII (40mm), the watch is still completely manageable next to the modern IWC Big Pilot (46mm). The original flieger watches were 55mm in diameter, which is practically unwearable.
The watch sports a 79320 calibre automatic movement, domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, anti-magnetic soft-iron inner case, 44 hour power reserve, water resistance of 60 meters, day and date complications, and a chronograph function measuring hours, minutes, and seconds. The watch comes on a green textile strap. Interestingly enough, the watch will only be available through the IWC online website and not the official boutique stores. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph will be available online through October.
