INKAS armored vehicle manufacturing has been providing bulletproof cars since 2000. Its latest vehicle offering is based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S580 luxury sedan. While the car’s powertrain and handling remain mostly stock, INKAS adds some serious upgrades to turn the German sedan into a light-armor tank with leather seats. The S-Class power output, size, and reputation as a leading-class luxury vehicle made it an ideal candidate for armor modifications.
The INKAS armored Mercedes-Benz S-Class is powered by its factory twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, producing 496-hp and 516 lb.-ft of torque. It uses a nine-speed automatic transmission and full-time all-wheel drive. INKAS’s standard equipment includes multi-layer bullet-resistant glass with reinforced door hinges and critical structure points. In addition, the car’s suspension is reinforced to handle the extra weight of armor plates to protect the perimeter and underside of the passenger compartment. Additional protection is fitted to the car’s battery and electronic control module to help prevent disabling the vehicle. Moreover, the S-Class is fitted with special run-flat tires. With the standard armoring package, the INKAS Mercedes-Benz S-Class can withstand the bullet impact from an assault rifle and the blast from up to two DM51 grenades detonated simultaneously under the vehicle’s floor.
Optional INKAS equipment includes a heavy-duty brake system, emergency lights, a fire suppression system, and a lightweight armoring package. The INKAS armored Mercedes-Benz S-Class is currently available to order and can be delivered worldwide via all significant seaports or shipped by airfreight.
