IKEA Pokes Fun at Apple

The Apple Pencil has been taking some criticism since its introduction last week, mainly about how Steve Jobs would disapprove of this ’stylus’ had he been around. Remember, he did dismiss the stylus back in 2007 when the first iPhone was introduced to the public. It’s hard to imagine that Apple has forgotten about this, and this may be why they’ve been careful not to use the word ‘stylus’ during their presentation. Instead, they’ve emphasized quite a bit on how this is a ‘pencil,’ through Jony Ive’s soothing British accent during a video presentation. However, we all know what it is, and a pencil it is not.

Hearing about Apple’s new ‘pencil,’ it seems that IKEA may have had a word or two to say about pencils as well. Aside from the number 2 pencil in the U.S., the free tiny pencils we get at IKEA might be the most popular in the world. Capitalizing on this worldwide recognition, IKEA Singapore has released an image through their Facebook page that pokes fun at the Apple Pencil.

The image closely mimics the one used by Apple during their announcement, with the words ‘Absolutely Familiar. Entirely Free.” This is not the first time IKEA has poked fun at Apple, and we have a feeling that it may not be the last.
