In what might be one of the most unlikely fashion collaborations ever, Gucci has partnered with The North Face to launch an expansive collection of not only apparel, but also bags, boots, and even tents and sleeping bags. We get a glimpse of the Gucci x The North Face Collaboration via a just-released video and photo campaign that draws inspiration from The North Face’s earliest designs from the 1970s. The selection of outerwear is particularly strong, with an array of down-filled coats, bomber jackets, and vests displaying vintage Gucci-esque floral motifs with bright notes of cyan, Kelly green, and orange. Also included in the collection is a pair of smart leather hiking boots sporting a Goodyear-weted sole and thick lacing along with the duo’s collaborative logo at the lateral.
In the spirit of adventure that infuses the entire lineup, The North Face and Gucci also designed a special collection of luggage. Covered in eight graphic patterns created just for this collaboration, the backpacks and belt bags––which take their cues from hiking equipment––are brightly-colored but have a smart sustainable touch. ECONYL, a special nylon created from recycled carpets, fishing nets, and more, was used to limit the ecological footprint of these designs. Given the anticipated high demand for this collection, be sure to mark your calendars for January 6, 2021, when The Gucci x The North Face Collaboration will drop in the U.S.
