Grand Seiko continues to blend technical mastery with serene artistry in its new Evolution 9 SLGW007. This refined dress watch channels the quiet elegance of nature. Featuring a textured navy dial inspired by the bark of birch trees under moonlight, this latest addition to the Evolution 9 collection underscores Grand Seiko’s commitment to both tradition and innovation.

The SLGW007 introduces the brand’s manual-winding Caliber 9SA4, a new Hi-Beat 36,000 movement with an impressive 80-hour power reserve delivered via twin barrels and Grand Seiko’s signature Dual Impulse Escapement. Precision is ensured through a free-sprung balance with an overcoiled hairspring, while 40% of the movement has been redesigned to enhance the tactile experience of winding. Even the click mechanism has been shaped like a wagtail—a nod to Morioka, the home of Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi—adding a poetic touch to the engineering.

The 38.6mm stainless steel case is just 9.95mm thick, creating a sleek, comfortable profile with a lowered center of gravity for improved wearability. Elongated grooved indexes, narrowed multifaceted lugs, and a box-shaped sapphire crystal give the watch a refined, modern silhouette rooted in the 1967 44GS design language. A deep moonlit blue dial shimmers with shifting tones as light catches its textured surface, delivering both serenity and visual intrigue.
Completed with a calf leather strap and a sapphire display caseback, the Grand Seiko SLGW007 embodies the brand’s ethos: precision timekeeping elevated to an art form. Priced at $10,300, it is a striking yet understated expression of Japanese craftsmanship.
