The Malt Master at Glenfiddich, Brian Kinsman has a reputation for challenging convention and pushing the boundaries of what a great whisky can be. He was merely an apprentice at Glenfiddich when the company first distilled peated whisky. For #04 in Glenfiddich’s recent Experimental Series, Kinsman has blended smoky notes of peat with the company’s signature sweet and fruity whisky. To add an addition layer of caramel sweetness, he finished this exceptional whiskey in Latin rum casks.
The final result of Kinsman’s efforts, Glenfiddich Fire & Cane Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a 43% ABV spirit that combines “campfire smokiness” with “toffee sweetness.” This golden-hued whiskey also features tangy tasting notes of baked apple and various sharp green fruits. Fire & Cane finishes with lingering sweetness and soft peat notes that billow like “distant smoke on the wind.”
