Daniel Craig Returns As Benoit Blanc In ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’

A classic whodunit with an all-star ensemble cast.

Today, Netflix released a teaser trailer for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, a follow-on to Rian Johnson’s 2019 hit film, Knives Out, which made over $300 million at the box office. The teaser reveals the return of Daniel Craig’s private detective Benoit Blanc, complete with his distinctive southern drawl. “You expected a mystery,” Blanc narrates as the image of a gloved hand holding a gun flashes on screen. “You expected a puzzle. But for one person on this island, this is not a game.” Since this is just a teaser before the full trailer, not much is revealed in the way of the plot, but Netflix’s Tudum states that the murder mystery’s characters are summoned to “a reclusive millionaire’s Greek private island” by “a mysterious set of invitations.”

Featuring an all-star ensemble cast much like its predecessor film, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery features Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, and Leslie Odom, Jr.  “So much of why I’m so into making these (films) is that they just do bring me an intense amount of joy,” director Rian Johnson tells Tudum. “Working with Daniel in this genre and having fun with it and the humor, getting to work with a new group of actors every time, everything about it just brings me happiness.”

No release date has been given beyond “this holiday season,” but the film is set to hit Netflix on December 23rd. If Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery does have a 45-day theatrical exclusive window as previously suggested, it can be expected in cinemas in November. A third installment in the series is already confirmed.
