It takes a special kind of carpenter to assume the name “Woodman.” It also takes a special kind of bike-builder to incorporate wood into his creations.
Behold George Woodman — a carpenter, furniture-maker, interior designer, and all-around artistic mastermind. At his garage/studio in the city of Biarritz in southwestern France, he produces just a few motorcycles each year, and all of these motorcycles contain one or more real wood features.
George Woodman’s most recent project is a completely redesigned 1972 Honda SS50 Moped that has earned its rustic “Wild Horse” moniker. As powerful as a stallion, this little bike has a customized 5-gear 190cc Zongshen engine prepared by the mechanics at Stomp.
You’ve certainly never seen a bike like this. Its modified frame/tank position is just the beginning. The Wild Horse features highly unique wood parts (headlights and seat) of 100-percent beech that remain true to the vehicle’s dirt bike roots.
