The Ferrari 488 GT Modificata is a racehorse built to run, but only at the track. This car is developed using technology adapted from the Ferrari 488 GT3 and 488 GTE to be used on track days or compete in Club Competizioni GT events. The 488 GT Modificata is given specialty tuned aerodynamics capable of generating more than 2,200 pounds of downforce at 143 mph. It needs this aero to keep its twin-turbocharger V8 pushing out an estimated 700 horsepower to prevent getting loose in the corners. A carbon fiber clutch and new transmission help manage the upgraded engine performance.
Like any proper race car, the key to success is adding power and reducing weight. The Ferrari 488 GT Modificata’s body is constructed almost entirely out of carbon fiber with a roof made out of aluminum. Its brakes were developed alongside Brembo and feature the same calipers as world championship race cars with a specifically tailored ABS unique to the GT Modificata. Having a bank account with several commas to afford the 488 GT Modificata doesn’t guarantee ownership. Ferrari will only sell this car to buyers who have participated in Club Competizioni GT races – in other words, real drivers only.
