Along with Halo and Project Gotham Racing, and a few other titles, Fable was one of the foundational video game series that cemented the success of Xbox. The fantasy RPG was much more than well-received, it became beloved by fans from the time the original was released in 2004 to the last sequel that hit shelves in 2012. Then, as fans were growing weary about the prolonged development of Fable Legends after it had been announced nearly three years beforehand, Lionhead Studios broke the hearts of their devout fanbase by announcing the series would be canceled following the shutter of its business in 2016. Since then, the sleeping giant has laid dormant until finally being redeveloped by Playground Games. The Fable Official Announce Trailer unveils the rebirth of the series that was so integral to the success of the first Microsoft gaming console, with its newest game due to be rereleased on the forthcoming Xbox Series X.
The Fable trailer takes viewers back to the ethereal landscapes of Albion, though not much in the way of gameplay is revealed. Instead, the teaser playfully jests about how not every story has a happy ending — a clear piece of commentary on the abrupt halt to the Fable series in 2016. No definitive release date for the game has been announced either. Fortunately, what is clear is that the next-gen graphics and performance of the Xbox Series X will make sure that the latest edition of Fable guarantees that the fantasy franchise is here to stay.
