DJI’s new RS 5 gimbal is aimed at solo shooters who demand pro‑level stabilization without a crew. The lightweight rig weighs 1.46kg with battery but can support cameras up to 3kg thanks to a fifth‑generation stabilization algorithm that delivers 50 percent more motor torque.

A new Enhanced Intelligent Tracking Module attaches magnetically to the gimbal and uses a built‑in camera to track people, vehicles or pets up to 10 meters away, letting the operator walk around a subject hands‑free.

DJI also addressed the gimbal’s ergonomics. Fine‑tuning knobs now ride on Teflon‑coated rails for smoother balancing, and an Electronic Briefcase Handle lets filmmakers adjust yaw and pitch directly with a trigger and wheel.

Native vertical shooting is now possible without additional brackets, and the battery grip offers 14 hours of runtime—extendable to 30 hours with an optional larger grip. Charging is 60 percent faster than on the RS 4, meaning less downtime on set.
At around $620 for the combo kit, the RS 5 sits at the sweet spot for independent creators. Explore the product on the DJI RS 5 page and see how this gimbal compares to its predecessor in our coverage of the RS 4 Series.
