September marks the beginning of Fall, both ceremonially with Labor Day on September 5th, and officially with the Autumnal Equinox on September 22nd. And while we must say goodbye to Summer Fridays and weekends at the beach, there are still plenty of events around the globe that we’re excited to check out this month. Music. Art. Beer. What more could you ask for? Here’s what we’ll be following this month.
Electric Zoo
September 2-4: Randalls and Wards Islands, New York City, NY
This Labor Day weekend, join 150,000 EDM fans in New York City for Electric Zoo, considered one of the best festivals of its kind. Bassnectar, Tiësto, and The Chainsmokers are just a few of the acts taking the main stage over the course of the three day event, but there will be plenty of up-and-comers to see on the other four stages. Over 30 food vendors and a lineup of performance art pieces and installations round out the weekend. Tickets available here.
Oktoberfest
September 17-October 3: Munich, Germany
Each year millions of people make the trip to Munich, Germany to participate in Oktoberfest (and guzzle over 6 million liters of Bavarian beer). On September 17, the city’s mayor will kick off the festivities when he taps the first keg in the Schottenhamel, the oldest tent at the festival. We recommend reserving seats in the tent of your choice or checking out the festival during the week to avoid the weekend crowds. So pack your lederhosen and grab your passport.
Affordable Art Fair
September 9-11: Bristol, UK and Seoul, South Korea
September 28-October 2: New York
Whether you’re a new art collector or you’re looking to discover new talent to add to your already impressive collection, the Affordable Art Fair, which is held in a variety of cities across the globe is a must see. Browse thousands of original paintings, prints, sculptures and photographs, ranging from $100-$10,000. In September, the fair takes place in New York, Bristol, and Seoul but other cities throughout Europe and Asia host the fair throughout the year.

If you find yourself in the Bay Area towards the end of September, be sure to stop by the 7th annual Eat Real Fest, the premier fundraising event of Food Craft Institute, and a celebration of good food with a focus on artisan food craft, street food, craft beers, local wines and delicious cocktails—all featuring sustainable local ingredients. This free festival combines a state fair, a street-food festival, and a block party to create a celebration of good food. BONUS: all food is $8 or less.
Bestival
September 8-11: Isle of Wight, England
Bestival is a four-day music festival held at the Robin Hill country park on the Isle of Wight, England, which has been held annually in late summer since 2004. Oasis
September 16-18: Marrakesh, Morocco
Oasis is not your typical music festival. It’s an “intimate destination music festival experience in Marrakech, Morocco, featuring today’s top underground electronic music talent and a range of activities.” The event is held at the Source Music Resort, which offers swimming pools, a view of the Atlas Mountains, plush gardens, and a relaxed holiday vibe.
