Charge Cars is a UK-based company that builds bespoke vehicles. Its latest creation is a blend of retro and future in the shape of an automotive icon legend. The car is called the Charge Electric Mustang, and it is a fully electric car that looks like a 1967 Ford Mustang fastback. The body shell is licensed for authenticity and offers tire melting performance thanks to a hyper-charged electric powertrain. It’s the next evolution in modern restomods.
The Charge Electric Mustang gets motivated using a 64-kWh battery pack fueling a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. Its total power output is rated at 536-hp and a whopping 1,106 lb.-ft of torque. According to Charge, the Electric Mustang can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.9-seconds and keep on running for an estimated range of 200 miles. The powertrain is sourced from Arrival and comes with a 50-kW DC fast charging capability.
Inside, Charge fits the Electric Mustang with an elegant interior that focuses on style without complexity. Drivers get a horizontal infotainment screen and a beautiful retro-inspired steering wheel with a push-button shifter. Heavily bolstered bucket seats keep drivers in place during the car’s instant torque.
The silhouette of the Electric Mustang speaks back to the original fastback pony car. However, once the light shines upon it, you see that the Charge Electric Mustang features a fully enclosed front grille and flush-mounted door handles. Charge Cars stated that it will only produce 499 examples of the Electric Mustang and is currently taking reservations for those willing to shell out the over $400,000 price tag.
