Buffalo Trace Distillery is proud to unveil Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey, a new uncut, unfiltered rye addition to the renowned Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Collection. Bottled at a robust 126-proof, this limited-edition whiskey is crafted with the same pioneering spirit and commitment to quality introduced by Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., a key figure in the modern bourbon industry.
Taylor, celebrated for his innovative contributions and instrumental role in the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, first crafted straight rye whiskey over a century ago. This new release pays homage to his legacy, combining barrel-proof strength with fresh rye spice for a remarkable tasting experience. The aroma reveals notes of white pepper, nutty undertones, fresh floral hints, and candied apricot. A sip offers a complex blend of sweet dried stone fruit, pepper, and oaky dryness, culminating in a full, honeyed finish.
“Colonel Taylor’s impact on the bourbon industry is immeasurable,” says Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director at Buffalo Trace Distillery. “The Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey exemplifies our dedication to producing exceptional whiskey with the finest ingredients, honoring E.H. Taylor’s pioneering vision.”
Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley adds, “Spirits enthusiasts know that there’s no experience quite like tasting a whiskey in its truest, untouched form—straight from the barrel. This new release elevates the beloved recipe of Colonel E.H. Taylor Straight Rye Whiskey to a new level.”
The Barrel Proof Rye Whiskey is the 13th release in the E.H. Taylor, Jr. Collection, joining other celebrated expressions like Single Barrel Bourbon and Four Grain Bourbon.
