On a night filled with thunder and lightning, the Brabus tuning shop releases its latest monster onto the road. This new high-performing beast is based on the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 SUV with its screws turned up to 900. The numeric upgrade is a reference to its new power output. The Brabus 900 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is a 900-horsepower luxury SUV.
To achieve these massive performance figures, Brabus replaced the Maybach GLS 600’s factory 4.0-liter V8 with an in-house 4.5-liter Rocket V8. This new engine features a larger set of turbochargers allowing for power gains of 900-hp and 922 lb.-ft of torque. However, Brabus detuned the engine down to 775 lb.-ft of torque for its own safety. All this torque and power translates into a fully loaded SUV with a top speed of 199 mph.
Clues to let people know this Maybach GLS 600 is a Brabus 900 are subtle changes to its front and rear bumpers. Poking out the back is a rear diffuser and larger exhaust tips fitted to a new stainless steel exhaust system. The SUV’s exterior trim is painted Shadow Gray, as are its 24-inch forged Monoblock M wheels. Inside, press photos show an elegant two-tone black-and-cream-colored interior. The option to customize interior colors is optional. Brabus is now accepting orders for the 900 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 on its main website.
