Birkenstock, the iconic German footwear brand, has joined forces with Copenhagen-based homeware label Tekla for the Birkenstock / Tekla Collection Of Footwear and Sleepwear that merges comfort and style. This partnership marks Birkenstock’s debut collaboration with Tekla, and it’s all part of the German brand’s 1774 designer collection.
The standout pieces in this limited collection are the revamped Nagoya slip-on clog and Uji sandal. Birkenstock has added fresh details, such as elongated straps and hand stitching, to these signature styles, elevating them to new heights of craftsmanship. The footwear is available in a range of subtle and saturated block colorways inspired by Tekla’s color palette.
Designed with “moments of comfort” in mind, the collection features four monochromatic color options – Slate, Straw, Mauve, and Powder. The cork footbed, a Birkenstock trademark, is lined with soft shearling for extra comfort, while a smooth Nappa leather heel wrap adds a touch of luxury. These shoes are proudly made in Germany and come in a co-branded shoe box made from recycled paper, emphasizing sustainability.
But the collaboration doesn’t stop at footwear; it also extends to sleepwear. The collection includes an oversized kaftan, a long-sleeved shirt, and pants and shorts, all designed for maximum comfort and available in three colorways.
Klaus Baumann, managing director at Birkenstock 1774, describes this collection as “unique” and says it embodies the feeling of home, comfort, intimacy, and familiarity. This sentiment is shared by Christoffer Lundman, creative lead at Tekla, who emphasizes the synergy between the two brands, highlighting their shared commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
The Birkenstock x Tekla Collection Of Footwear and Sleepwear is priced between $145 and $495 and is initially available exclusively at 1774.com and teklafabrics.com, and will launch globally on October 17th at select retailers. This limited-edition collaboration brings together the best of Birkenstock’s comfort and Tekla’s style for a truly unique collection.
