The Bell & Ross BR 01 CYBER SKULL Is Inspired By The Lockheed Martin F-117 Nighthawk

Since 2009, the skull has proved a great source of inspiration for Bell & Ross. We’ve seen almost a dozen watches depicting a skull-and-crossbones symbol on their dial.

Following a decade since the debut of Bell & Ross’ original BR 01 Skull timepiece, the French watchmaker is once again drawing upon the world of pioneering horology, creating the limited edition BR 01 CYBER SKULL. This signature BR wristwatch is essentially an aviation instrument in a 46.5mm ceramic square case. It is a style that works well as a military watch, explaining the previous iterations in camouflage or a fighter jet “heads-up” display. The skull is a recurring theme for the BR series, sometimes associated with airborne troops, and one that has been continually refined over the last decade.

The iconic skull motif of the Bell & Ross BR 01 CYBER SKULL seemingly floats due to the see-through caseback and highly skeletonized caliber BR-CAL.206, which also rotates the ceramic skull itself when being hand-wound. To reinforce this “floating” sensation, the brand’s logo and hour markers are printed on the internal surface of the crystal. Blacked out metal indices and hour and minute hands come fully lumed with Super-LumiNova for greater functionality in dark environments, while a 50m water resistance rating and black rubber bracelet protect the timepiece from moisture. Bell & Ross is producing only 500 pieces of this bold statement timepiece, so time to add it to your holiday gift list.
