Bell & Ross was one of the first watchmakers to produce a skull watch, which it did in 2009. Since then, the brand’s BR 01 Skull family has grown to include ten different models, all of which are greatly sought after by collectors. In November of this year, Bell & Ross created an exclusive one-off version: the Bell & Ross BR 01 Cyber Skull Sapphire for Only Watch 2021. With its orange-colored skull, this unique model was sold at the Only Watch charity auction for 220,000 Swiss Francs (est. $239,084), twice its top estimated value. Now, the watchmaker has developed what it calls the “general public” version of this unique watch, with a transparent sapphire crystal faceted skull in a full sapphire case. The Bell & Ross BR 01 Cyber Skull Sapphire is a limited edition of only 10 items.
The skull and crossbones appear to be floating in thin air due to them being captured between two sapphire crystals. Powering the Bell & Ross Cyber Skull Sapphire is the in-house BR-CAL.209 automaton movement, which was specially developed for this watch and provides a power reserve of 48 hours. The case is a hefty 45mm with the skeletonized dial layout with the sapphire skull as the main focal point, with an actively rotating balance wheel located at the 12 o’clock position. This unique and fascinating timepiece is finished with a translucent rubber strap.
