Projectors may offer the most true-to-theater home viewing experience, but there’s no getting around that long-throw projectors are complicated to install, finicky to calibrate, and susceptible to clueless passers-by who block the image and ruin everyone’s fun. Short-throw projectors are a little better but require adequate space between their lens and the projection surface for optimal clarity.

Revealed at CES 2023, AWOL’s Vision Vanish Laser TV projector circumvents all that drama. Instead of calibrating and coordinating multiple different pieces, home theater enthusiasts can pick up the cabinet, plop it down, and (with minimal setup) start watching. With the push of a button, the motorized screen emerges from the back of the cabinet while the triple-laser, 3,500 ANSI-lumen projector inside gets into position up front.

The projector includes HDR 10+ support and can display 4K and even 3D content. MEMC technology ensures a smooth, clear picture even during fast-moving action scenes. In game mode, the LTV-3500 delivers 1080P content with a blistering 17ms delay and only 30ms delay at 4K. Players who get pwned will have to find elsewhere to lay the blame.

One important detail: the Vision Vanish is actually a bundle of sorts: the motorized screen, the smart cabinet (with a pair of robust, inbuilt 36-watt speakers), and the LTV-3500 projector itself. Those seeking the ultimate home theater setup can get a 100-inch or 120-inch Vision Vanish for $15,000 and $16,000, respectively.
