A turntable need not be confined to an entirely analog listening chain. The new Audiolab PPA7 combines a moving-magnet and moving-coil phono preamplifier with features usually scattered across several separate components, including headphone listening, wireless transmission, and digital archiving.

The compact aluminum chassis has a small OLED display and front-panel controls rather than the anonymous switches found on many phono stages. Separate RCA inputs accommodate MM and MC cartridges, with selectable loading and gain settings to suit different pickups. A dedicated current-feedback headphone amplifier drives a quarter-inch output for private listening without requiring a full speaker system.

Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX HD sends records to compatible wireless headphones or speakers. A USB-C output connects to a computer for transfers at up to 24-bit/192kHz, making the PPA7 useful for digitizing older or hard-to-replace records.

It can sit between a traditional turntable setup and a modern digital library without requiring the listener to abandon either. The restrained enclosure follows Audiolab’s existing desktop-component design language.
The PPA7 phono preamplifier is priced at $699 in the United States, with availability expected in late October 2026. Immediate shipping has not yet been confirmed.
