The aluminum belt-drive turntable mounts vertically, calibrates itself, and sends records over Bluetooth.

Most vertical turntables treat the record as décor first and a source component second. The Ruka Studio TD-1 takes the more difficult route, building its upright presentation around a belt drive, swappable moving-magnet cartridge, and automatic tracking-force calibration.

The Los Angeles studio’s first product is milled from aluminum and measures roughly 12 by 3 by 1.6 inches in its vertical orientation. An acrylic platter, magnetic record puck, electronic speed control, and tactile metal switches keep the hardware visibly mechanical without making setup fussy. The motor is decoupled from the platter, with claimed wow and flutter below 0.15 percent RMS, speed accuracy within 0.1 percent, and a signal-to-noise ratio of at least 75 dB.

A rubber-coated wall bracket with an integrated level lets the player click magnetically into place. Floor and tabletop stands provide alternatives for renters or anyone unwilling to drill into plaster. Wired outputs connect the TD-1 to a conventional system, while Bluetooth sends playback to wireless speakers or headphones. It lands in a growing class of design-conscious turntables that refuse to hide in an equipment rack.

Ruka Studio is preparing an initial run of 500 units at a $1,399 founder price. Preorders are opening soon, with delivery expected in 2027 and a matching record stand included.
