The ultimate James Bond fan collectible has officially rolled off the Aston Martin assembly line. The first of 25 limited production Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Continuation cars debuted this week. The car is dubbed “Job 1” and it is a recreation of the famous spy car used in the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger. The DB5 is arguably one of the most famous movie cars in cinema history.
The Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Continuation is built on a mild-steel chassis and powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter inline-six matched with a ZF-supplied five-speed manual transmission and mechanical limited-slip differential. The British inline-six sucks fuel through a three carburetors setup capable of producing 290 horsepower. Upgrades from an original DB5 include steel disc brakes and modern suspension components. Each car requires 4,500 labor hours to complete which adds up to nearly 19 days.
Customers who can afford the over $3,000,000 price tag for a DB5 Goldfinger Continuation can choose any color so long as it’s Silver Birch. But the real goodies are the Bond-inspired gadgets that come as standard. Inside you’ll find the gear knob actuator buttons, telephone, remote control gadget activation, and a hidden storage tray under the seat for a light travel bag, or weapons. Functional gadgets include rear smoke screen, triple license plates, and simulated tire-slasher, oil-slick, and bullet resistant rear shield. The other 24 examples are going to be built through the rest of the year.
