Arc’teryx Gives the Konseal Serious Trekking Range

A carbon shank, GORE-TEX liner, and deep Vibram lugs turn the Konseal into a true backcountry boot.

Arc’teryx is stretching the Konseal formula beyond the approach trail. The new Konseal Trek Boot keeps the line’s climbing-informed precision but builds in the support needed for longer, heavier days in the mountains.

Its PFC-free nubuck upper is reinforced by a woven Kevlar collar, while GORE-TEX Invisible Fit adds waterproof protection without turning the boot into a bulky shell.

Underfoot, a carbon shank controls flex when the ground gets steep or the pack gets heavy. Compressed EVA supplies cushioning, and a Vibram Megagrip outsole uses substantial 5.1 mm lugs to bite into loose, wet terrain. The result weighs about 590 grams per boot—hardly minimalist, but reasonable for the level of structure on offer. Two restrained colorways, Black/Graphite and Mid Bracken/Graphite, keep the technical build from looking overworked.

The Trek sits neatly above the lower-cut Konseal approach shoe previously covered by IMBOLDN. It is for hikers who spend enough time scrambling to want a precise toe, yet still need ankle coverage and load-bearing stability. At $280, it is a specialized piece of footwear, but the combination of carbon, GORE-TEX, and genuine backpacking geometry makes the upgrade easy to understand.
