If you’ve always wanted the iPhone X but couldn’t justify shelling out a grand or more on a smartphone, Apple has sneakily included a surprise reveal at the Apple Event today: the iPhone XR.
Keeping many of the same great features from the newly announced iPhone Xs at a lower price, the enticing XR has more to offer: 6 beautiful finishes to choose from (yellow, white, coral, black, blue, and (PRODUCT)RED), and the most color-accurate and most advanced LCD ever in a smartphone. Apple even has a new name for it — “Liquid Retina Display.” Although smaller in overall size than the iPhone 8 Plus, the XR packs a much larger 6.1” edge-to-edge screen.
Like its bigger brothers Xs and Xs Max, the iPhone XR houses the new and powerful A12 Bionic chip. It doesn’t share the new dual camera system, however, but makes do with a great f1.8 single-lens 12MP camera, portrait mode with Depth Control, and 4K 60fps video.
Preorder for the iPhone XR starts on October 17th.
