Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen was known for his unrivaled creativity and modernist designs. The AJ Oxford Table Lamp is a simple yet visionary light that will transform any table, desk, or nightstand. It emits light downward through three layers of hand-blown opal glass, creating a pleasant glow that’s bright but not overwhelming.

Arne Jacobsen originally created this sleek table lamp for use in the dining hall at St. Catherine’s College in 1962, a constituent school of Oxford University. The lamp’s diffused lighting is so ideal that it remains throughout the college today, emitting light in residence halls and classrooms. It’s a timeless design that fits any room in any home.

The base is a simple black metal loop that’s attractive without overwhelming the table. The light’s cable channels through the stem for a clean, seamless appearance. There are two versions of the AJ Oxford Table Lamp by Arne Jacobsen, one with a top metal shade and one without the shade for a slightly brighter glow.

The AJ Oxford Table Lamp by Arne Jacobsen is as beloved today as when it was first designed in 1962. It’s available now on the Louis Poulsen website.
