Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto and adidas have once again partnered to release the adidas Y-3 Idoso Boost, a sneaker that boasts a strong avant-garde vibe. Y-3 creates progressive apparel, footwear, and accessories—a vision shared by both the German sportswear giant and the renowned designer. According to the designer, “Y-3 is a strong examination of the blend of sport and style and the tension caused by mixing tradition with all that is modern.” Yamamoto has reworked the Y-3 Idoso Boost with neutral hues and a pop of bold orange on the heel and along the laces, reflecting his strong contemporary aesthetic.
Largely inspired by adidas performance tech, the Y-3 Idoso Boost offers EVA cushioning for enhanced comfort. The mesh and woven textile upper is detailed with an asymmetrical, elongated eyestay and suede and rubber accents. The Three Stripes branding is found on the quarter panel window. In addition, a tonal adidas Y-3 in both small and large fonts has been added to the tongue. The laces are slightly skewed on the outer side of the shoes which sit on top of a bulbous half-sphere heel design that lends this adidas shoe its most distinctive feature.
