With 70% of the planet’s surface covered by oceans, protecting the world’s oceans is an essential part of securing the place we all call home. Such is the theme behind the new adidas x Parley Collection – an array of tennis apparel made in part with plastic waste that has been removed from the ocean.
Since 2012, Parley for the Oceans has been committed to securing the future of the earth’s oceans through a wide variety of initiatives, including projects to remove plastic pollution on remote islands, beaches, coastal communities, and shorelines. Now, Parley for the Oceans has partnered with adidas to turn this plastic that the organization collects into high-quality tennis apparel and raise awareness about the importance of ocean conservation. In addition to a variety of footwear, the adidas x Parley Collection features a t-shirt, shorts, polo shirt, a 2-in-1 short, jacket, woven tee, and woven pants. Along with being made in part from recycled plastic waste, the apparel in the adidas x Parley Collection also comes with morse code engineered patterns and laser-cut executions that were inspired by ocean activists. By giving plastic removed from the ocean new life as high-quality tennis apparel, the adidas x Parley Collection represents one small step in the effort we must all take to protect our home court.
