Most people work for most of their lives to achieve the American dream of home ownership, usually ending up being the single most expensive purchase during their lifetime. Although pricy, most homes are relatively within the reach of average Americans, but for some, any home just won’t do.
Located in the affluent neighborhood of Bel Air, the most expensive home to be ever offered for sale in the U.S. is asking a whopping $250,000,000. The 38,000 sq-ft home boasts 270-degree views, has 12 bedrooms and 21 bathrooms, multiple pools, four-lane bowling alley, a candy wall overlooking the entertainment space, and a 40-seat full scale movie theater with reclining seats. The home feels like a cathedral built as a tribute to materialism, with “artistically” rendered sculptures and art pieces from well known high-end products sprinkled around the home. Also included in the sale are seven full time staff to take care of your every need and over 100 art pieces on display. The garage in the basement is stocked with $30 million dollars worth of exotic vehicles, while there’s even an inoperable helicopter from the ‘80s TV show Airwolf on the roof of the mansion.
Undoubtedly impressive, laden with features that’s befitting of a Bond villain’s lair, we’re not entirely convinced that money can buy good taste. The overall design and scale looks like its been designed by a high school student hell bent on building the biggest and baddest house in The Sims. Having said that, we’re also glad to know that we live in a world where excess that verges on insanity can be possible.
