Honda is reviving a legend with the debut of the 2026 Honda Prelude, a hybrid-electric sports coupe engineered to rekindle the brand’s “joy of driving” ethos. Set to arrive at dealerships this fall, the new Prelude blends the efficiency of Honda’s two-motor hybrid powertrain with the high-performance chassis components of the Civic Type R, marking the first time these technologies have been paired in one vehicle.

The Prelude promises an engaging grand touring experience, offering 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque, delivered with responsive handling, precise steering, and a comfortable ride suited for everyday driving. A highlight is the introduction of Honda S+ Shift. This new drive mode simulates the feel of a performance transmission, complete with rev-matched downshifts and enhanced engine sound for maximum driver engagement.

Design cues showcase both sophistication and muscle, with a wide stance, flared fenders, and an aerodynamic silhouette capped by a sleek double-bubble roof. Blue-accented Brembo brakes, 19-inch Berlina Black wheels, and adaptive dampers emphasize its performance pedigree. Inside, the Prelude features leather-trimmed sport seats with houndstooth accents, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a 10.2-inch digital cluster paired with a 9-inch touchscreen running Google built-in. A premium 8-speaker Bose audio system rounds out the tech suite.

Available in five bold colors, including the new Winter Frost Pearl, the Prelude returns as both a style statement and a performance milestone. With its hybrid heart and Civic Type R DNA, Honda’s iconic coupe is back to inspire a new generation of drivers.
