BMW debuted a new variant to the M3 lineup that picks up where the M3 Competition left off and turns it up to eleven. The 2024 BMW M3 CS is a limited edition, track-focused variant that ditches the weight and packs on the performance. It’s a louder, lighter, and faster BMW M3.
Under the hood, the BMW M3 CS features a hotter spec twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine. Compared to the M3 Competition, producing a respectable 503 horsepower, the new M3 CS turns 543 hp. This extra 40 hp comes from raising the engine’s turbo boost pressure from 24.7 to 30.5 psi.
In addition, the 2024 BMW M3 CS gains an upgraded cooling system derived from the M4 GT3 race car. Moreover, the CS uses stiffer engine mounts for improved rigidity. As a result, the M3 CS should produce a more hardcore driving experience. Sending the power to its four-wheel drive system is an eight-speed automatic transmission. But, BMW provides the option to turn off the M3 CS stability control and switch to two-wheel drive to maximize sideways action.
BMW replaces several components with carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic on the M3 CS to save weight. The car’s roof, hood, front splitter, front air intakes, mirror caps, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler have been replaced with this lighter-weight material, in addition to interior parts like the center console, shift paddles, and trim strips for 75 pounds of weight loss. The interior comes standard with power adjustable heated seats dressed in Merino leather with Mugello red accents and contrast stitching.
These performance upgrades and weight-saving advances result in a zero to 60 time of 3.2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 188 mph. But that top speed is only achieved with the M Driver’s package. Buyers can upgrade their 2024 BMW M3 CS to a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 high-performance tires at no cost. The standard wheels are dressed in a unique gold bronze or optional M-specific V-spoke design in matte black.
BMW stated the 2024 M3 CS is a limited production but did not state the number. Regardless, if you want one, you better hurry because production starts in March 2023.
