Anyone looking to order a new 2022 Land Rover Defender will have to choose between four, six, and now eight-cylinder engine options. Customers can now order a 2022 Land Rover Defender with a supercharged V8 to traverse the wilderness – or Rodeo Drive. This new engine is a 5.0-liter V8 being fed air via a supercharger to produce 518 horsepower and 461 lb.-ft of torque to push this SUV from zero to 60 mph in under five seconds.
Land Rover has not disclosed the full specifications of the V8 option yet, but we do know V8 Defenders come with chassis and driveline adjustments to cope with the added power. The 2022 Defender’s selectable drive modes are recalibrated with a new “Dynamic” mode to unleash the V8’s full brutality. 2022 Land Rover Defender optioned with V8s will sport unique badges as a warning that it’s packing heat – and a larger set of brakes. New for the 2022 Land Rover Defender is an optional 11.4-inch touchscreen with an upgraded Pivi Pro infotainment system, wireless charging for devices, and stronger Wi-Fi signals. If the all-mighty V8 engine is destined for extinction soon, we better enjoy it now while it’s still an option. Smoke ’em if you got ’em!
