Initially used for diving, the original Breitling SuperOcean watch was developed in the 1960s and 1970s. This watch took its cues from practical diving, preferring function to form, ditching stylistic elements for chunky, bright indexes, a bold minute indicator, and easy-to-use dials. Today, the new 2022 Breitling SuperOcean recalls these early designs while also making the watch suitable for both the ocean and day-to-day wear.
The 2022 Breitling SuperOcean is a new collection that brings pared-down aesthetics to modern watch design. With four available sizes, including 46, 44, 42, and 36mm sizes, the Breitling SuperOcean collection is perfect for just about everyone. The watches feature high-contrast dials coupled with the option for bronze, steel, or steel-gold case colors. The collection also features a rubber strap that offers a sporty look or a three-row metal bracelet that suggests a refined look perfect for going out.
Although stylish, the 2022 Breitling SuperOcean collection is packed with functional features any diver will appreciate. The watches are water-resistant up to 300 meters and have the bright, big, and bold Breitling indexes divers know and love. Coated in Super-LumiNova, the indexes are very readable, even in dark and murky water. The bezels are made of scratch-proof ceramic that prevents wear and fading. The 2022 Breitling SuperOcean collection features Breitling caliber 17 movement, and the watches have a 38-hour power reserve. Included in the 2022 Breitling SuperOcean collection is the limited edition Superocean Automatic 42 Kelly Slater. This watch, co-designed with the famed surf champion, is limited to only 1,000 pieces.
