In celebration of Breitling’s 70th anniversary, the watchmaker has just introduced a new family of Navitimers, with multiple modern dial colors – including green, blue, black, silver, and copper – that are paired with all the attributes of the original, including the all-important slide rule and the distinctive triple sub-dials. Speaking about the brand’s Navitimer, CEO Georges Kern said, “We don’t throw the term icon around lightly. The Navitimer is one of the most recognizable watches ever made. It’s on collectors’ lists of the greatest watches of all time. What began as a tool for pilots has gone on to mean something profound to every single person who has had this timepiece along on their personal journey.”
The 2022 Breitling Navitimer is offered in a range of sizes including 46mm, 43mm, and 41mm diameters. The latest Navitimer family is powered by Breitling’s in-house COSC-certified Chronometer B01 caliber automatic movement with a power reserve of 70 hours. Giving the Navitimer a cleaner, more modern look than its predecessors, Breitling has made subtle design adjustments that include a combination of brushed and polished surfaces, a flatter slide rule element, and a domed crystal. In addition to the circular slide rule, the layout is classic Navitimer, with baton indexes, a trio of chronograph counters, and a notched bezel for easy grip. The new collection has even gone back to using the AOPA wings at the original position of 12 o’clock on the dial. The Navitimer is available in either steel or 18ct red gold, and on a choice of leather strap or bracelet.
