Like its watchmaking contemporaries, Hublot has announced the release of four new attention-getting models for 2021 at this week’s Watches and Wonders. Hublot has a talent for producing unique, one-of-a-kind designs featuring striking colors and complicated movements. The latest releases are no exception. With these four new additions to its Big Bang Collection, Hublot again leans toward the unorthodox, embracing both contemporary and industrial design.
Hublot’s Big Bang Tourbillon Full Sapphire is truly a work of art, with the light entering the heart of the watch from all angles. The new integral bracelet and case are custom-made from sapphire. This full sapphire reconstruction has succeeded in removing almost all visible screws while reworking the overall geometry of the case to integrate it with the sapphire bracelet. An illusion is created of the bridges and main plates being suspended in space, granting transparency to view the HUB6035 automatic manufacture caliber. The complex bracelet is comprised of 165 components, a third of which were specially designed to complement the transparency of the case. The newly developed titanium inserts ensure a minimalistic look with no protrusions on either side of the bracelet links – a manufacturing first for Hublot and quite possibly watchmaking.
The new Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic introduces a bright, sunny addition to the Big Bang line. Made from a triple patented high-tech ceramic material, developed and produced by Hublot’s R&D department and its Metallurgy & Materials laboratory, Hublot has created the first bright yellow ceramic timepiece, known as Yellow Magic. Limited to just 500 pieces, the Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic incorporates the electric yellow color on the flange, indexes, minute and seconds counters, Arabic numerals, and hands. These are all an arresting accent to the Unico HUB1242 manufacture movement that is visible through the transparent dial.
Hublot’s new Big Bang Integral Tourbillon High Jewellery is an exquisitely elegant timepiece featuring 484 baguette-cut diamonds, totaling 31 carats. The 43mm baguette diamond case is made of 18k white gold and features a sapphire crystal dial, allowing for a closer look at the automatic Tourbillon displayed at the 6 o’clock position. The in-house HUB6035 automatic movement from Hublot drives this one-of-a-kind Big Bang, holding a 72-hour power reserve and 30-meter water resistance. The case back mirrors the front face, as it is made from 18k white gold and sapphire crystal with 48 baguette-cut diamonds. Hublot finishes the newest High Jewellery addition with a matching 18k white gold bracelet flooded with diamonds.
Rounding out Hublot’s newest releases is the Big Bang Sang Bleu II, a trio of geometric-styled Big Bangs. Available in Grey, Blue, and White Ceramic, the Sang Bleu II is all sculptural and sharp angles, resembling facets of a diamond. The 45mm satin-finished case is covered by a sapphire crystal and features a geometric etched dial display, which also is incorporated into the minute and seconds sub-dials. Behind the dial lies the in-house Unico Manufacture self-winding Chronograph Flyback movement and column wheel, providing the watch with a 72-hour power reserve and 100-meter water resistance. The matching satin-finished back case features numerical engravings signifying the production number of the limited-edition release. Each Hublot Big Bang Sang Blue II is equipped with a color-matched rubber strap paired with a Sang Bleu-designed black PVD titanium deployment buckle.
