Ferrari has unveiled a mid-cycle 2021 refresh for its entry-level Portofino GT car. The car is now called the Ferrari Portofino M. The M stands for modificiata, meaning “modified” in Italian. The most noticeable upgrade in the 2021 Ferrari Portofino M is a 612 horsepower 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 from the Ferrari Roma. The changes in the Ferrari Portofino M compared to the outgoing model are in the details. The front bumper now features larger air intakes for a more why-so-serious fascia. In the back, the tail has been tucked-in making the rear bumper more streamlined. This was possible thanks to a new exhaust system that allowed the silencer assembly to be removed and tuck away that empty space. The main visual difference in Portofino M’s profile is the new front fender air vents.
According to Ferrari, these minor adjustments were made to improve aerodynamics. The interior looks pretty much the same as the outgoing model apart from updated materials, new color combinations, and heated and ventilated seats. The best upgrades focused on performance and handling. The 2021 Ferrari Portofino M is the first Ferrari GT sports car to have a Race mode. The Roma V8 adds 20 more horsepower to the Portofino M, using an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission derived from the Ferrari SF90 Stradale supercar. Driver aids have also been upgraded to include the latest six-gen Side Slip Control and an updated range of optional advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Pricing for the 2021 Ferrari Portofino M has not been announced, but we can assume it’ll be higher than the outgoing 2020 model’s $215,000 price tag.
