With a late November release date for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, lucky drivers might receive a big present under their trees this year. With the same rough and tumble reputation and handling that Jeep is known for, the new Wrangler is aims to retains its throne as the off-road king.
The body of the military vehicle-inspired Jeep has a contemporary facade — its characteristic boxy shape has been molded and softened with more curves. Its updated silhouette benefits from increased aerodynamics; a fold-down windshield; more breezy freedom; and multiple door, top, and windshield options.
The new Wrangler will retain its iconic seven-slot grille framed by circular headlights. Jeep has revamped its turn signals by placing them on the front fenders which crown a redesigned front bumper. New fender flares and front fender vents add further to the Wrangler’s new but familiar facade. New door handles and a bolder character line lie beneath the greenhouse for added impact.
Both the 2018 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited models will come with what Jeep is calling “advanced fuel-efficient powertrains.” Previous models suggest this might be turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 3.6-liter V6, or 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel. The Wrangler Unlimited will reportedly include a 3.6-liter V6 engine with more varied options like a three-piece hardtop and a limited slip differential.
Jeep aficionados can look forward to getting mud in their tires and dust across the hood with a trek into the rugged terrain or the urban street with the 2018 Wrangler.
