The folks at Mercedes-Benz seems to be going through some confusing times, trying to tidy up their new nomenclature system. Up until recently, their AMG models were given the AMG badge after their cars’ alphanumeric names, for example Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. These high performance cars, however, have been separated out as Mercedes-AMG models, changing the aforementioned car’s name to Mercedes-AMG C 63. Then they started offering AMG Sport models to split the difference between the regular models with their AMG variants, but that was soon dropped in favor of incorporating them into the Mercedes-AMG family.
Confused yet? Well, no need to be confused anymore as Mercedes seems to have figured it all out and are introducing a new line of ’43 AMG’ models that will sit below their full blown ’63’ models. The newest addition is the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC. It’s a sportier version of their GLC compact SUV, with appropriately aggressive looking body kits fitted along with delicious 19-inch alloy wheels. The sporty appearance is backed by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine that produces 362hp and 383 lb-ft, propelling the SUV from 0-60 in a supercar-like 4.8 seconds. Perfectly suited for those of us that have familial responsibilities but don’t want to give up on our spirited weekend driving, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC might just hit the sweet spot for many.
