Landrover reveals the Discovery Sport, a replacement for the aging Freelander(LR2). Landrover’s approach to divide their lineup into sub-brands continue from the Range Rover line to the Discovery as well, clearly showing their brand strategy as well as each vehicle’s hierarchy within the brand. The new Discovery Sport is smaller than the regular Discovery but maintains its big brother’s rugged looks. Although most examples will barely see any surface that is covered in anything but light rain, the Discovery Sport nevertheless should be a capable rig with several engine choices and a nine-speed automatic.
