After much speculation on whether Mercedes-Benz will enter the pickup truck market, Mercedes finally gives us an answer by revealing their latest X-Class range in concept form. The Concept X-CLASSis presented in two versions; a more subdued version that’s designed to offer a more premium experience and an all-out rugged hardcore off-roader.
The X-Class fills a gap that has been missing in Mercedes-Benz’s portfolio, with both versions of the concept demonstrating two different potential directions the production model may take. Based on the same platform as the Nissan Navara and Renault Alaskan, the production X-Class will be available with standard RWD and optional AWD. AWD models will come with low range gearing, locking differentials, and advanced traction control to aid in extreme off-road situations. The production version of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is slated to debut in Europe in late 2017.
