From traditional watches to smart watches, we’re spoiled for choices these days. With so many watches fighting to mark its territory on our wrists to choose from, it’s a bit disappointing that there aren’t a whole lot of options that truly stand out from the crowd.
Thankfully, that’s something that cannot be said of the eye-catching NIWA Nixie Tube Watch. Instead of traditional watch faces or LED displays to tell the time, NIWA uses Nixie tubes — old cathode displays that were widely used in the ‘70s and ‘80s. It’s a fresh take on retro technology that uses tubes filled with nitrogen gas. The watch has a 55mm diameter face with two IN-16 Nixie tubes and two blue IV-15 tubes housed inside the all aluminum case. Using very little energy, this unique watch charges through its USB-powered docking station, and can be fully charged the watch in three hours, lasting up to five days.
