Zenith and SJX Watches have announced the release of the elegant, reimagined version of the historical Zenith G383 with its rare “Poker Chip” dial execution. The Chronomaster Revival is crafted in a micro-blasted titanium case with a dark grey dial with printed segments in matte black and Super-Luminova. Originally introduced in 1969, the G383 “Poker Chip” is among the rarest and most in-demand iterations of the early El Primero variants. This is what led Su Jiaxian, founder of Singapore-based watch magazine SJX Watches, to approach Zenith in 2020 with a proposal to reimagine the G383 with a decidedly modern take. “I’ve long admired the El Primero for its longevity, and Zenith for its rich heritage,” explains Jiaxian. “I wanted to do something that would combine both the movement and its history, but rather than a remake, I wanted something that might sound like a paradox: a design immediately recognizable as the G383 but unmistakably novel and different.”
The Zenith G383, with its tri-colored dial design, reflects the psychedelic era of the late 60s, with its dial that shows boldly alternating colors, recalling a poker chip, hence its nickname. This new Chronomaster Revival uses the same 38 mm case as the El Primero A386. Visible through the sapphire back is the El Primero movement, essentially the same caliber that made history in 1969. Each Zenith x SJX Chronomaster Revival “Poker Chip” is delivered with two fabric straps, one in matte black and the other in pale green coated with Super-Luminova so the entire band glows in the dark. Limited to 200 watches, the “Poker Chip” will be exclusively available from SJX Watches for a month and then will be available at Zenith boutiques around the world, as well as its online store.
