Nestled in the lush greenery of Goa, the Wooden House by Architecture Discipline is a groundbreaking example of modern, sustainable design. Spanning 8,650 sq ft, this pioneering home for Sahil Barua, the co-founder of Delhivery, embraces mass timber, a first for India, to minimize carbon emissions and offer a stylish, eco-friendly alternative to traditional concrete structures.

The house features a striking, unidirectional form made from glued laminated timber (glulam), known for its strength and low environmental impact. Its unique folded design and minimalist approach blend seamlessly with the surrounding forest, offering aesthetic beauty and structural integrity.

The home’s architecture is designed with sustainability at its core. It is perched on stilts to preserve the site’s natural slope and vegetation. Inside, the open-plan layout is bathed in natural light, with expansive views of the Arabian Sea. A minimalist approach to furnishings allows the building’s raw materials to shine. A large glazed opening in the living space creates an indoor-outdoor flow, while a deconstructed kitchen and garden area introduces a playful touch to the otherwise serene environment.

Not just a stunning home, this residence is a model for sustainable architecture, using innovative materials like mass timber and efficient construction techniques. With its balance of natural elements, cutting-edge technology, and artistic expression, this Goan sanctuary sets a new standard for eco-conscious luxury living.
