Even though famed watchmaker URWERK was just established in 1997, it is widely seen as a leader in innovative design and unparalleled quality. The company creates only a handful of watches annually and is known for its avant-garde style, bold colors, and thought-provoking themes. The newest release, the URWERK UR 100V Ultraviolet watch is no different, offering a bold timepiece in blazing violet tones.

Creator Martin Frei explains that violet is a special color at the very end of the visible color spectrum. To him, the new URWERK UR 100V Ultraviolet represents pushing boundaries, testing the limits, and exploring what was once thought impossible. The new watch features satellite hours and minutes creatively displayed on the face. After the 60th minute, the minute hand vanishes, only to reappear as a kilometer counter. This innovative design represents the 555 km traveled every 20 minutes by people of earth. The hour and minute markers are lit up in either green or bright blue.

URWERK has designed the UR-100V UltraViolet using the 41mm by 49.7mm by 14.0mm titanium case used before in several of its watches. This has been sanded and shot-blasted for a unique finish, before being coated in a violet DLC coating. While by the numbers it appears to be a sizable watch, URWERK has constructed it in such a way as to keep it comfortable on the wrist. The watch is powered by the new, complex URWERK caliber 12.02 movement, features a sapphire crystal face, and is waterproof to 3 ATM.

The new URWERK UR 100V Ultraviolet watch is available now online and at select retailers. The watch retails for $55,800, excluding taxes. Like all URWERK watches, this model will only be available in extremely limited quantities.
