With distinctive angular “snowflake” hands, the Tudor Black Bay watches are instantly recognizable as its own separate entity despite its inevitable Rolex ties. The new Tudor Black Bay P01 incorporates a few more of its own unique touches and design elements that have been borrowed from the brand’s long and storied history.
The unique stop system for the bidirectional bezel on the P01 involves a mobile endlink at the 12 o’clock position. The endlink is on a hinge and locks the bezel in place when it comes down. The stop system originated in 1968 as a military tool on the original Black Bay prototype.
Although much of the P01 reflects key features from the Black Bay vaults, make no mistake: this watch is also thoroughly modern. Sheathing the chronometer grade automatic movement within a 42mm steel case with a satin finish, this watch is water-resistant to 200 meters and features a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
