The Triumph Trident has not been in the spotlight since 1975, with a brief but not noteworthy comeback in the 90s. Now, Triumph has announced a return to the name with a 2021 Triumph Trident design prototype. This Trident prototype is a middleweight roadster bike with a brand new chassis and a three-cylinder engine taken from the Triumph Street Triple. The 2021 Trident is designed to be an everyday rider with a relaxed riding position and updated electronics. This is a modern motorcycle with retro-inspired styling featuring a round headlight and knee indentions in the gas tank like a café racer.

According to Triumph, this design took four years to develop by the Hinckley design team with styling input by Rodolfo Frascoli. The bike’s theme is pure, compact, and powerful, much like the design of an actual trident. The Triumph Speed Triple was used to inspire the Trident’s refined, muscular poise, with clean lines. A motorcycle with a minimalist design, engineered for maximum performance, and providing comfort and easy to use operability. Triumph states the new Trident design prototype marks a new chapter for Triumph motorcycles moving forward in the 2020s. The 2021 Triumph Trident is scheduled to begin arriving at dealerships in 2021.
