Fashion designer Thom Browne has teamed with ASICS SportStyle to reimagine the GEL‑Kayano 14, infusing the performance runner with the aesthetics of his tailoring. Unveiled in an immersive installation at the Selfridges Corner Shop in London, the collaboration showcases three colourways — grey, black and white — each featuring sleek piping, grosgrain ribbon and leather overlays atop the shoe’s breathable mesh base. The reinterpretation retains the Kayano’s signature midsole geometry and supportive heel counter, but the materials elevate the silhouette into the realm of luxury.

The installation itself transports visitors into a surreal office environment, echoing Browne’s runway theatrics. Paper sculptures inspired by the designer’s four‑bar motif serve as pedestals for the shoes, while windows along Oxford Street display the footwear amid stainless‑steel desks and mirrored ceilings. Beyond sneakers, the space houses accessories such as ties, hats and socks displayed like jewellery, reinforcing the blend of athletic and formal codes.

Available from March 2, the collaboration sees Selfridges serve as the exclusive launch partner for the white pair, with grey and black versions also offered through Thom Browne and ASICS channels. With this project, Browne continues his exploration of sportswear through a sartorial lens, and ASICS gains entry into high‑fashion storytelling.
For men who appreciate both performance footwear and the subversive wit of a New York tailor, the GEL‑Kayano 14 collaboration presents a compelling fusion.
