With the battle between streaming services heating up, Netflix is looking to pull out all the stops with a number of upcoming movies and television programs. One such program that has been in development for some time now is The Witcher. Starring the Man of Steel himself, Henry Cavill, the Netflix original series is based on the popular eponymous book series. With 8 episodes coming to Netflix starting on Friday, December 20, the streaming platform is looking to drum up attention. This is especially important as Disney+ is starting up in mid-November with its own flagship release of The Mandalorian. To keep pace, Netflix just put out The Witcher Official Trailer.
The Netflix Original Series centers around monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. Originally Netflix had an idea to turn The Witcher into a single film, but as there are 8 books Netflix decided to turn it into a series with the potential for future episodes if the initial season does well.
