James Gunn Drops The Official Trailer For ‘The Suicide Squad’

Gunn has truly taken things to the next level with the wacky ensemble cast of misfits he has assembled.

The first full trailer for James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ has just arrived and the bloody and violent 3-minute clip does not disappoint. Written and directed by Gunn, the new film is a follow-on to the 2016 movie ‘Suicide Squad.’ The brilliant ensemble cast includes the likes of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, American actor and former WWE wrestler John Cena as the Peacemaker, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, and Viola Davis as U.S intelligence officer, Amanda Waller. The trailer opens with the group of dangerous incarcerated super-villains plotting a high-stakes rescue operation for Robbie’s Harley Quinn only to discover that she has already escaped capture without their help.

As a collection of the most degenerate delinquents in the DC line up, the group is given the chance to be freed from Belle Reve penitentiary by joining the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Davis’ Amanda Waller who runs the Task Force X program, deploys the band of misfits to destroy Jotunheim, a South American Nazi-era prison and laboratory. Among the 20 or so off-the-wall villains you’ll see in the movie include new additions King Shark (voiced by Sylvester Stallone), Nathan Fillion as Tok, and SNL’s Pete Davidson as Blackguard, among others. It’s really anyone’s guess how this collection of cons will work together. You can find out on August 6th when ‘The Suicide Squad’ premiers in theaters and on HBO Max.
