The Marvel Cinematic Universe is taking a bold, retrofuturistic leap with the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps, directed by Matt Shakman, known for his work on WandaVision. The first teaser has fans buzzing as it introduces a 1960s-inspired world while presenting the MCU’s take on Marvel’s iconic First Family. Pedro Pascal stars as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, bringing his stretchy brilliance to the screen, while Vanessa Kirby plays the forcefield-wielding Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. Ebon Moss-Bachrach rounds out the team as Ben Grimm/The Thing and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch.
Unlike previous reboots, Fantastic Four: First Steps doesn’t revisit the origin story. Instead, the family is already equipped with their powers and ready to face off against legendary foes like Galactus and the Silver Surfer. Ralph Ineson and Julia Garner join the cast, respectively, as these colossal villains, making for an action-packed showdown.
But it’s the moments of domestic life that truly stand out in the teaser. Between Johnny Storm’s fiery antics and Ben Grimm’s admiration for robot H.E.R.B.I.E.’s cooking, the familial bond at the heart of the Fantastic Four promises to be as engaging as their epic battles. Fans can expect humor and heart, a refreshing twist to the superhero genre.
Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in theaters on July 25, 2025, promising a thrilling, emotional, and visually stunning adventure.
